John Rooth – better known by every 4WDer and adventure tourer in Australia as Roothy – has lived and breathed the outdoor lifestyle for decades.
Behind the wheel of Milo, his old, beloved and extensively modified little green BJ 45 Series LandCruiser, he has visited every corner of Australia, from Cape York to the Kimberley, the wilds of Tasmania and the hardest tracks in New South Wales and Queensland.
With a background that's seen him working as a carpenter, mechanic, teacher, prospector, miner, shearer, cook, hunter, librarian, bus driver, activist, TV presenter and editor - just to name a few - all over the country, Roothy has become one of the 4WD community's best-known bearded faces. A larrikin by nature, he’s also a heck of a camp cook.
The iconic Aussie bush mechanic and adventurer has joined the Camper Trailer Australia family and pens a regular monthly column in his trademark comical and laconic style, illustrated by spectacular images from his travels around the country.
