Things are really firing up in September, with an incredible array of events, festivals, rodeos and markets to check out across the country.

Burdekin Water Festival

Sep 2

This three-month long festival celebrates Burdekin’s abundant underground water supply and culminates in a street parade and mardi gras on Sep 3, filled with colourful floats, in the town’s CBD.


Quilpie & District Show, Rodeo & Gymkhana

Sep 9

Enjoy parading fashions, browse stalls or with a sideshow alley action before kicking back for an evening of bull-riding action with the rodeo commencing at dusk with music and beverages until late.

Trundle Bush Tucker Day

Sep 2

Featuring bush cooking competitions, a billy boiling sprint, damper throw and classic bush entertainment. Get involved to win great prizes or just sit back and watch the entertainment unfold.


Broken Hill Festival

Immerse yourself in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert birthday celebrations with a full program in and around the famous Palace Hotel, Silverton Hotel and the Silver City region featured in the film.

Explore local gardens with daffodils in bloom, visit the Antique and Vintage Fair, enjoy the Wine and Food Festival, marvel at visual and performing arts and partake in the Grand Parade on the last day.


Mildura Country Music Festival

More than 70 unsigned entertainers will perform at 26 venues in the greater Mildura region to mark the 20th Southern Stars country music awards, where Aussie independent artists are celebrated.

Enjoy a delicious breakfast or lunch while browsing stalls for venison, farm rabbits, sourdough breads, cakes, conserves, fruit and vegetables plus plants, books, crafts and bric-a-brac.

Sample award-winning food and wine from the Barossa region with entertainment amid blossoms and budding vines, with local producers hosting a series of parties to welcome the Spring.


Lower Lakes Stockmans Challenge and Bush Festival

Sep 15-17

Watch Aussie bush folk young and old drive cattle through vast terrain for the title Legend of the Lower Lakes and enjoy festivities with camp oven cuisine, stalls, pony rides, a ute muster and live shows.



Koorda Show

Sep 2

Celebrate local industry with livestock, machinery, minerals and manufacturer displays plus local produce, arts and crafts not to mention field competitions and ample family-friendly entertainment.


Northam Balloon Fiesta 2017

Sep 2-9

Celebrate the majestic practice of hot air ballooning with a live show, a Balloon Glow event and a Balloon Discovery zone amid carnival activities with a grand finale at 7.30pm.
